Massage Therapy

The practice of massage therapy is the assessment of soft tissue and joints of the body for the treatment and prevention of dysfunction, injury, pain and physical disorder.

Dr. Alissa Banns graduated from the University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford, British Columbia with a Bachelor in Kinesiology and then went on to obtain her Doctorate of Chiropractic which she received from Palmer College of Chiropractic in San Jose, California.

While she was in California she was an active member of the Sports Council which allowed her to treat various types of athletes and many sports injuries.

She was able to combine her love for traveling and her passion for helping people by volunteering through mission trips in El Salvador and Peru where she treated a wide range of conditions and injuries from the pediatric to the geriatric population.

Dr. Banns is in constant pursuit of knowledge and is continually taking courses to enhance her ability to address musculoskeletal disorders. She has had training in Functional Movement Taping (Rocktape), Active Release Technique (ART), Functional and Kinetic Treatment with Rehab (FAKTR), concussion management, nutrition, extremity adjusting and exercise and rehabilitation.

She is currently the Medical Director for the 2024 BC Summer Games. She has treated at the Cloverdale Rodeo and ValleyWest Stampede as a member of the Canadian Pro Rodeo Sport Medicine Team. She has treated at the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships and works with the Maple Ridge Burrards and Langley Thunder of the Western Lacrosse Association. Dr. Banns has a special interest in treating equestrians. She has worked with elite riders of all disciplines.

She strives to actively help patients achieve their sports, fitness and personal related goals. She believes that patients need to be active members of their own recovery and health. When she is not in the office you can find her on a plane off to explore an exciting new destination or horseback riding. She looks forward to helping you move better and smile more!

Dr. Jaymi Evoy received her Doctorate in Chiropractic from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in Toronto, Ontario. Prior to studying in Toronto, she studied Kinesiology at the University of British Columbia’s Okanagan Campus. She enthusiastically participates in all outdoor activities and in her spare time is a runner who enjoys playing soccer.

Dr. Evoy has a passion for healthy active living and helping people feel and function at their best. Through personal experience, she has seen the difference that chiropractic care has made in her life, which resulted in her pursuing a career in this field. She uses evidence based techniques including diversified adjusting, soft tissue therapy and lifestyle advice to treat acute and chronic conditions of the whole body. She caters to individual needs targeting the joints, nerves and muscles to achieve optimal functioning. Injury prevention and rehabilitation is also an area of importance for Dr. Evoy and she provides information on these topics to all of her patients. She treats people of all ages and has a special interest in providing care for children and patients who are expecting.

Dr. Rylie Glenn will be covering for Dr. Evoy during her maternity leave, and she is excited to welcome new patients to her practice as well. Dr. Glenn graduated summa cum laude from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC), after completing her studies in Kinesiology at the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV).

Dr. Glenn has an interest in treating patients of all ages and backgrounds, taking a collaborative approach to make personalized treatment plans that meet their unique needs and goals. Beyond her professional life, Dr. Glenn has an active lifestyle, participating in activities like running, hiking, camping, skiing, and exploring the outdoors. Olessya is a Registered Massage Therapist who works mostly weekends and is a busy mom during the weekdays. She loves going hiking and swimming with her two kids. She is also very knowledgeable about kid’s activities that are happening in Maple Ridge and tries to attend them all! As a graduate of 2020 registered massage therapy school, she has gained an in-depth understanding and strong knowledge about human anatomy and physiology. This has allowed her to better understand patients’ needs and find the best solution to their concerns, as well as aid in their general body wellness. Dr. Angela Macdonald graduated summa cum laude from Western States Chiropractic College in Portland Oregon, in 1997. Since then she has practiced and raised her family in Maple Ridge.

Her clinic, Partners in Health, has been running since 2001. She is very proud to share her office with such talented and caring people. Dr. Shamro knew early in life that helping others was her passion, and first learned of the difference Chiropractic care can make while working at a wellness clinic during her teenage years. This experience inspired her to pursue a career in Chiropractic. She went on to complete a degree in Biology at Simon Fraser University before obtaining her Doctorate in Chiropractic from the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon. Jacqueline graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 2021 where she received an Academic award. She became Registered in 2022.

With an interest in computers, art, as well as health and wellness, she was not sure which path she wanted to take. After taking the introduction to massage therapy course at WCCMT, quickly realized her real passion was in Massage Therapy. Jacqueline excelled in school and took part in outreaches which included G.F. Strong, and UBC.

Jacqueline strives to help her patients to achieve optimum health and wellness. She likes to be specific in treatments, and focus on those knots we call trigger points, but also integrates some nice Swedish massage as well.

She is now offering hot stone massage in her treatments!

She loves to exercise at home using the elliptical. In her free time she likes to relax on the deck outside with a cup of coffee, cook, play video games, board games and enjoys family get-togethers.
